Jólabrennivínið 2023 fékk frábæra umfjöllun í The Wall Street Journal þar sem fjallað var um limited-edition spirits:

In Iceland, this barrel-aged take on Iceland’s totem spirit, the clear, caraway-scented brennivín, is known as “Jólabrennivín,” meaning Yule, or Christmas brennivín. In the U.S. it’s simply called a “cask selection,” since it typically arrives here well after the holidays, usually in January or February. Typically, the barrel-aged seasonal version is rich with vanilla and spice. This year’s was aged five years; Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks contribute nuanced nutty and raisin-like tones.

How To Get It: The 2023 release went on sale in early November in Iceland, where it tends to sell out by Christmas, said founder/importer Joe Spiegel. If your holiday plans are routed through Iceland, by all means take a spin through the Duty Free shop at Keflavik Airport. If you don’t mind waiting until January or February, the Cask Selection should be available in the U.S. Previous years’ bottlings are still available in the U.S. at outlets like Duke’s Liquor Box.
